This class provides the basic functionality for data analysis using ROOT. It has tools such as projections, fitting, polygonal, etc.
Depending on the program the user is running, there are different methods of bringing the PelTools menu to the screen:
SPMRoot
If the user is running the SPMRoot acquisition program, click on
menu Tools -> pelTools button.
ScanRoot
There are two ways of bringing the PelTools menu in the screen:
Click on the PelTools button in the ScanRoot quick access bar
type tools() in the command line
The PelTools interface
When you open the PelTools, a graphical interface will show.
As one can note, there are two buttons on the top of the window:
Browser - opens a TBrowser window for navigation
Canvas - opens a graphical TCanvas for histogram manipulation
Bellow these two buttons there is a Shutter with 3 selection tabs:
Import/export - this tab has buttons for inport/export files into/from ScanRoot or SPMRoot
Graphical Cuts - this tab has buttons for graphical cuts (bananas) manipulation
Import ASCII - Imports the data from an ASCII file (x y ex ey, being ex and ey optional) in a 1D root histogram.
Export ASCII - Exports the contents of the current pad histograms into ASCII files. The files will have the name of the histogram with .dat added to the name.
Graphical cuts
Create cut file - Creates a new ROOT file for saving graphical cuts
Open cut file - Opens a ROOT file containing grafical cuts for I/O
Close cut file - Closes the current graphical cut file
List cut file - Lists the contents of the current graphical cut file
Create cut - Creates a new cut (does not save on file)
Save current cut - Saves the current graphical cut in the file
Load cut - Loads a graphical cut from the file and draw it
Print cut - Prints the cut information and coordinates
Draw cut - Draw the current cut in the current pad.
Analysis tools
Draw TH2 (Cut) - Gets the current pad TH2 histogram, creates and draw it only with the data inside the current graphical cut
Draw PX (Cut) - Gets the current pad TH2 histograms, projects the data inside the current graphical cut into the X axis
Draw PY (Cut) - The same as above for the Y axis
Dynamical PX - Dynamical projection into the X axis. You use the mouse for projecting the histogram
