Research interests

My personal research interests are concentrated in many different aspects of Nuclear Physics Sciences. My main activity is to study relativistic heavy-ion reactions focusing the different aspects of heavy-flavor production and their interaction with the matter created in such collisions. In order to carry these activities I am member of the STAR collaboration at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) in the Brookhaven National Laboratory, USA. Our research group is also member of the Alice experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), located at Cern. Other basic research activities include the study of nuclear reaction dynamics at low energy collisions and nuclear astrophysics. These activities are carried mainly in the Pelletron Laboratory at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. I also give particular attention to nuclear instrumentation research, focusing mainly in the development of data acquisition systems for low-energy nuclear accelerators.

Principal activities

  • Member of the Alice collaboration (CERN) since 2007
  • Coordinator of the Physics Institute Computing Center since 2007
  • Convener of the STAR heavy-flavor group from 2005 to 2009
  • Software coordinator of the STAR electromagnetic calorimeter from 2001 to 2006
  • Member of the STAR collaboration since 2000
  • Member of the Nuclear Physics Department Computing committee from 1997 to 2000
